How To Build The Team That Will Allow You To Fulfil Your Dream

“Your Vibe Attracts Your Tribe” – Ali Flood (Believe Management)

As I strolled through my Instagram feed a couple of weeks ago, I noticed that striking caption on a photo posted by Ali Flood, who’s a member of my creative team. The photo was of her posing next to Aoife Kilpatrick, a talented designer who works for my best friend’s creative agency, Pink Honey. This candid moment of christmas happiness between two talented women, who despite hailing from the same country, needed thousands of miles and a chance encounter in order to experience the true meaning of “team.”

Ali helps steer my day-to-day digital content in the right direction And Aoife, with her amazing design skills has helped create the images that countless people see everyday, as I continue to grow and thrive in the music business.

These two were brought together by a series of events and relationships that started back in Ireland and has manifest itself into pure magic here in the Unites States. My perspective on team building has always started and ended with a vibe. As humans, we all live and create on different frequencies. Some high, some low, but those frequencies typically shift from day-to-day. After all, we’re only human.

The sad reality is most people can go an entire lifetime without finding the right individuals to vibe with. Voices go unheard. Dreams go unfulfilled. All because the motivation of team is lacking. My music is based on that reality. That there are people out there who need motivation, a team, and in my particular calling, a voice, to help them as they embark on their journey. That to me is the beauty of music.

Team building ultimately starts with self. The energy you admit creates the conditions to attract the right people. Don’t believe me? Try building a team with individuals who don’t share your values, morals or vision. You may be able to fake it for a while for the sake of individual accomplishments, but in the end, the house of cards will eventually tumble. You need to be dealt a strong hand in order for lady luck to be on your side. So if luck is preparation meets opportunity, you should prepare to meet the right people, and take the opportunity to engage — when the frequency is right.

Engage. Be Open. Honest, and most of all, strategic with whom you build with and WHY you’re building.

I often look at the wonderful team of individuals who’ve helped get here in awe. So many talented and good-natured people. How have I been so lucky? What did I do?

Easy — I attracted them.

Attract your tribe.

2016 has personally been one of my favourite years. Although I’m sure many of you can agree it hasn’t been without it’s challenges.

As I navigate through my days, I encounter so many people who believe they have a purpose and want to do something, they want to take action in order to make a difference.

I agree with this, I believe we must have a higher purpose, a mission, a profound calling and then we must be fearless and brave enough to follow that calling.

While taking action can make a huge difference, it’s really how we are in the world that makes the difference.

Recently, I met a friend who taught me a valuable lesson: She had just returned from church after spending the service praying for a better world, yet was rude to the waitress. I laughed a left a bigger tip for the individual who was actually a lovely host. It just proves, it’s not always about the actions we take but about how we are.

Ok, Stop for a second and consider this today…

If you are at peace with yourself right now, you are making a difference, of course you can give out, march on the streets, talk about it, donate to causes, feel sorry or empathetic for the World, but before you can make any changes you have to find your own inner peace. .

The ripple effect of happiness, love, compassion, forgiveness, kindness, that’s how you make a difference.

Christmas this year I was asked to contribute to a homeless drive in Venice, this was one of the most powerful events I have been involved in. I didn’t see the ‘problem’ it allowed me to see the ‘people’

Problems will still exist tomorrow, the injustice, prejudice, war, famine, homelessness, racism, homophobia- It isn’t going anywhere- not yet- not today

You want to help, you want to be part of the solution and you CAN be and hopefully WILL be!
But remember you have to conquer yourself first- Make that your 2017 goal.

Tackle your own views, your own conflicts, your own insecurities, your own fears and personal internal wars.

Don’t insult yourself by believing you are powerless, it’s quite the opposite.

You have the power, use it in 2017!

Love and Light,

“It’s the most wonderful time of the year…”

Decorations, cards and fancy food have been appearing for a while now but we’re finally coming into the madness of Christmas week, people around the world are doing their last minute shopping to ensure that every detail is perfect for the big day.

As for me, I’m most definitely feeling the Christmas spirit here in LA, although I try to keep the same good vibes all year round, there is something special and almost magical about this time of the year.

(I think it’s safe to say I won’t be seeing Frosty the Snowman here on the sunny beach but if any one out there sees his “corn cob pipe and button nose” please let me know how he’s doing.)

Whatever the reason you love christmas: the food, the presents, the lights it’s a wonderful time to spread good will and peace. “Each shining light, each silver bell, no one alive spreads cheer so well”

Just a gentle reminder that not everybody loves Christmas and not everybody can be happy around this time, so let’s all make sure that we look after those around us, our families, our neighbours and anybody out there who we think might need our help.

Let’s spread our love to those who need it most.

“Although it’s been said many times, many ways, Merry Christmas..”

Lot’s of Love,

December Decisions

It’s that joyful time of year when we get nostalgic and sentimental and the goodness pours out of us. But remember there are another 11 months of the year to be kind to yourself also! Lets start with some ideas about how to be the best possible you
What is perfection? Are you it? Does it exist? Answers on a postcard please.. 🙂
Know that once you do your best, your best is enough. You are enough.
Where you are right now is simply where you are. Start to make the strides today for the outcomes you want tomorrow.
Always take time out to acknowledge where you are in life, and where you want to go. In order to move forward, you need to first accept where you currently are.
Try not to get caught up in the little things and if you find that you are, take a deep breath and refocus, encourage yourself to see the bigger picture
You have the power to mould your life exactly how you want it, so grab it by the…
Become aware of what’s happening around you.
Take inspiration from the little things that you might not usually notice.
Try to put your phone down every now and again. It’s very easy to get caught up in the world of social media.
There’s more beauty around us than most of us even realise.
Always express love, you may be surprised by the love you receive in return.
Don’t be afraid to show love to people and things and live your life with gratitude.
We are in the season of joy and peace so now is a perfect time to let go and forgive the past to move fearlessly into the future.
The beauty about this month is that there’s plenty of mistletoe hanging around the place so be brave! mistletoe-hand-gallery
Try to live a balanced life. Everything in moderation.
Look at 2017 like marathon and not a sprint. Yes, December and Christmas will come and go – set yourself up successfully for a great year.
Seasons Greetings,

“The reason that you’re cool

Is ’cause you’re from the old school and they know it

All the critics love you in New York”

“All The Critics Love U In New York” by Prince

Last week, I took a trip to New York, you know, the city that never sleeps. Flying from sunny LA into a significantly colder whirlwind of hustle bustle, I stepped off the plane and took a deep breath.

As you probably know, New Yorkers aren’t shy about much. Walking through the West Village I was instantly greeted by people who are unique, loud, and free of inhibition. It was a gentle reminder to myself to be comfortable in my own skin and just to be who I am.

I entered the subway at Herald Square and I heard powerful, rock music that I was instantly drawn to.

I found myself compelled by the tunes and general buzz and atmosphere of what was happening. “This is what music is all about, uplifting people, creating energy, and making people’s days that little bit better”!

The next day, at a completely different station, I hopped on the train and waited patiently amongst the other travellers until it was my turn to get off. About three stops into my journey, I heard a voice- a beautiful singing voice. It was coming from the most unsuspecting of people; a bearded, oldish man, who was struggling to stand amidst the large number of passengers. His voice was an extraordinary pleasantry in an otherwise manic surrounding… and yet again, I thought to myself ‘what a wonderful world’.

Inspiration can come from anywhere at any time, all you have to do is open your eyes… and your ears!

“Just don’t give up trying to do what you really want to do. Where there is love and inspiration, I don’t think you can go wrong.”

Digital Get Down

Digital, digital get down (get down) just you and me / (You may be) Twenty thousand miles away, but I can see ya / And baby, baby you can see me

Let’s go on a journey to the year 2000, when *NSYNC’s No Strings Attached album dropped and became an absolute smash hit. This song, “Digital Get Down” was one of their hit singles (though, not as popular as the infamous “Bye Bye Bye”). It’s crazy to think about the differences between the “digital get downs” of the 2000s and today.

Admittedly, my first thought went straight to Tinder. I mean, what could be more relevant to the “digital get down” of 2016 than a mobile app meant for gettin’ down…if you know what I mean. 😉

In the year 2000, the “digital get down” in question was probably more in line with communication on flip phones, via call or text. Remember when we had those tiny monthly text limits?! There’s no doubt that we would pass those tenfold today.

In addition to archaic cell phones being the newest in mobile technology, the way we listen to music was on the brink of an extraordinary revolution. 2001 was a big year for music technology—iTunes was introduced at the start of the New Year, and the iPod was introduced 8 months later.

During that time, I was a music-obsessed Dublin teen collecting CDs and writing songs in my bedroom. Yes, I had this *NSYNC disc. I had seen the evolution of technology speed up right before my eyes, being born into a world with no World Wide Web. And now, we are all experiencing the digital age, a globe that is more interconnected than ever before. Social media has become a new public sphere for the global community. We exchange ideas, express our creativity, and share our feelings. We swipe right, we double tap, and we scroll endlessly.

My song, “Say Something,” was written with all of this in mind. We are so connected in our digital spaces, that we are not connected in the flesh. The line, “Say something that’s real” represents my longing for honest communication and real-life connection.

So, let’s try to put away the Snapchat at dinner, and let’s make a call instead of sending a text. These are little things that can make the often isolating and judgmental world of social media feel less real and less tied into our inherent value. Let’s transform our 24/7 digital get downs to digital special occasions.

“Ah go on, go on, go on”

The Irish, A Nation obsessed with Tea and here’s why…

  1. Not only does tea warm up the body, it heats up the soul. It makes people feel warm and fuzzy inside. No matter what kind of a day you’re having, taking a sip of a good cup of Irish tea can make almost anything better.
  2. Tea is the greatest “chat” enabler. Go to any house in Ireland and you’ll instantly be offered a cup of the hot stuff, next thing you know, you’re five cups in and mid-discussion about the meaning of life.
  3. Tea is a social event. People get together  just to drink tea, sitting down and drinking cup after cup and talking for days is a regular occurrence. No matter what your problem might be, tea can solve it, Irish people believe that tea has magical healing powers.
  4. It makes eating a whole packet of biscuits seem like a perfectly good thing to do. You can’t really have a cup of tea without having a few biscuits, or a few more than a few.
  5. Tea is appropriate in any situation. Take this for example; a friend arrives at your house after some sort of incident and they’re clearly “in a tizzy” What’s the first thing you say? “Have a cup of tea, it’ll help calm the nerves.”
  6. Unlike drinking coffee, tea has a much lower caffeine content so it’s basically, more or less, in a roundabout way, pretty good for you.
  7. Tea brings a positive outlook to any gathering. The only thing you have to worry about is whether the person who’s making the tea will use a “Barry’s” or a “Lyons” tea bag, a well known heated discussion in many households.
  8. It encourages dunking biscuit competitions, this involves dipping your biscuit in your tea and seeing who can keep theirs in there the longest without it breaking, always fun.
  9. It also enables drinkers to try the “Twirl Experience” a life changing experience which can be done with most chocolate bars. All you have to do is bite off the top and bottom of the twirl and suck the tea up through the middle, it gets all gooey and moist (HEAVEN)
  10. It would be rude not to!! In Ireland, saying no to a cup of tea is almost a rude gesture. The art of tea drinking has been passed on through the generations, it’s the responsibility of Irish people and anyone else who wants to get involved to keep this tradition alive.

Why Frogs Are Brave

Decisions. We can think about things, turn them over in our minds a million times, play out possible scenarios, but really when it comes down to it, you have to go with your heart and move forward. Maybe things will go to plan . Maybe life itself will lead you down a different path and doors will open where you least expect it. Every decision brings Action. The only thing that’s for sure is that indecision steals many years from many people who wind up wishing they’d just had the courage to leap.”

5 years ago , I finally found the courage to leap. And boy was it a big one. I jumped from a very stable, comfortable and safe position in the business world right into oblivion. Although I was more or less diving into the unknown, it felt like I was hopping on a train to visit a destination which was etched in my heart from the moment I was born.

In the words of others I had been very successful in business for the previous 10 years, but I knew music was what I was destined to do and so, I simply decided to go for it.

Ever since then, there has been no looking back.

Whenever I meet people now, they ask about my time in business, “was it worth it?” “was it just a distraction from what I really wanted to do?” Of course not. I learned some irreplaceable skills, skills I use every day, made life long friends and learned very quickly how the inner workings of “Keith” could be used to create something special as opposed to just digits in a bank account

“The more you know, the more powerful you become.”

Although it may seem it, my journey has not been all easy, there have been many ups and downs but when it comes to the end of the day and I’m lying in bed, I can always go to sleep with a happy heart knowing that I’m fulfilling a life long dream.

This blog should give you a brief insight into my background and my life choices but I hope it inspires someone else to be brave and take a chance in life; Challenge yourself, do what you love and most importantly, don’t be afraid to
