Cullen Cuts – City Edition

“There’s so much beauty when your eyes lay lost in all the city lights”

This week, I’m visiting London and wanted to share some outfit inspiration for city travelling/living.

London is a great city, it’s home to some of the best museums and galleries in the world with plenty of diverse restaurants and beautiful sights to visit. No doubt, you will want to make the most of your time here, like any city so you may find yourself walking a lot to take it all in.  It is important to not only look great but to also feel comfortable in the clothes and shoes you chose. I have put together the following look as I believe it is a great balance of style and comfort for those big city days.

Fashion for men is becoming increasingly popular and with so many different styles and clothes to chose from, it can become difficult to know where you stand and what looks good on you! For this look, I’ve stripped it all back and gone with a simple blue jean (you can never go wrong with a good pair of jeans) and paired them with a nice jacket and comfortable shoes.

Cullen Cuts – The Gym Edition

This entry is part 1 of 1 in the series Cullen Cuts

Don’t wish for it, work for it!

I’m advocate for the gym, I love training, I really love the healthy feeling that working out gives me! The question is: how do you keep it cool while still feeling comfortable enough to work out?

Read below to find out: ‘Cullen Cuts’ – The Gym Edition.

This week, I have a few examples of items I like to wear to the gym or post-gym that are the perfect mix of versatile and functional but also comfortable and stylish.

Breathable materials are best for working out as they help with body odour, they help reduce chafing and they also mop up sweat, not to mention they often look sharp and fresh. The gym has become a lot more social and as a result, style is now a key element in almost any gym outfit.

All you can EAT tips! Thanksgiving 2016

Thanksgiving is looming and as this will be my first time celebrating, I’m particularly excited. A beautiful day to celebrate, give thanks and lets not forget, TO EAT.
I have put together the following list of tips to help you get the most out of your day (food wise):
thanksgiving-memes
Disclaimer: In no way am I a thanksgiving expert, dietitian or health coach, the following is information I have cultivated as an observer of this fabulous, food based holiday.
Being a self-proclaimed food fanatic definitely has it’s perks, and today you can benefit from my love of food with the following tips I have put together:
-Between course exercise
Absolutely stretch out, walk around between courses, burning a small number of calories and helping your food to digest so that you’re ready to sit down and eat more when the time comes
-Eat breakfast.
This might be a surprising one for some. But if you don’t eat breakfast, your stomach will not be prepared for the large amounts of food you’re about to eat.
-Lower calorie foods
Maybe you’re doing the cooking, maybe you’re not! Either way, encourage the chef to make some lower calorie options which will help those on diets and also will allow people to still eat delicious food but food that is slightly less fattening
-Save space for your favourites
We all have that food item that we just LOVE so don’t be silly and fill yourself on the stuff that you enjoy but don’t love. Plan your day, be smart, make wise food choices.
-Slowly Savour your food
Remember: YOU ARE IN NO RUSH. “Slow and steady wins the race” especially when it comes to thanksgiving. It’s all about enjoying the food and taking your time eating it.
-Minimise your alcohol intake
Be careful  not to fill yourself up with alcohol, this can happen without even realising, so drink plenty of water between courses and save the drinking until after (if you can find the space)
-Enjoy the day
Most of all, have a fantastic day with the ones you love! Take the day to relax, eat and celebrate the life you live!

“Ah go on, go on, go on”

The Irish, A Nation obsessed with Tea and here’s why…

  1. Not only does tea warm up the body, it heats up the soul. It makes people feel warm and fuzzy inside. No matter what kind of a day you’re having, taking a sip of a good cup of Irish tea can make almost anything better.
  2. Tea is the greatest “chat” enabler. Go to any house in Ireland and you’ll instantly be offered a cup of the hot stuff, next thing you know, you’re five cups in and mid-discussion about the meaning of life.
  3. Tea is a social event. People get together  just to drink tea, sitting down and drinking cup after cup and talking for days is a regular occurrence. No matter what your problem might be, tea can solve it, Irish people believe that tea has magical healing powers.
  4. It makes eating a whole packet of biscuits seem like a perfectly good thing to do. You can’t really have a cup of tea without having a few biscuits, or a few more than a few.
  5. Tea is appropriate in any situation. Take this for example; a friend arrives at your house after some sort of incident and they’re clearly “in a tizzy” What’s the first thing you say? “Have a cup of tea, it’ll help calm the nerves.”
  6. Unlike drinking coffee, tea has a much lower caffeine content so it’s basically, more or less, in a roundabout way, pretty good for you.
  7. Tea brings a positive outlook to any gathering. The only thing you have to worry about is whether the person who’s making the tea will use a “Barry’s” or a “Lyons” tea bag, a well known heated discussion in many households.
  8. It encourages dunking biscuit competitions, this involves dipping your biscuit in your tea and seeing who can keep theirs in there the longest without it breaking, always fun.
  9. It also enables drinkers to try the “Twirl Experience” a life changing experience which can be done with most chocolate bars. All you have to do is bite off the top and bottom of the twirl and suck the tea up through the middle, it gets all gooey and moist (HEAVEN)
  10. It would be rude not to!! In Ireland, saying no to a cup of tea is almost a rude gesture. The art of tea drinking has been passed on through the generations, it’s the responsibility of Irish people and anyone else who wants to get involved to keep this tradition alive.
